Class V at the Opening Retreat

Class V at the Opening Retreat

Through a deliberate selection process, Leadership Tennessee seeks proven leaders and change agents from every region of the state to bring their diverse backgrounds and experiences to an in-depth exploration of the complex issues facing Tennessee with a focus on how leaders can collaborate to effectively address them.  This ten month, five-session study of those issues will result in increased statewide networking, collaborative conversation and concrete plans to continue that dialogue and actions beyond the yearlong commitment.

Beginning in January of each year, nominations will be sought for leaders across the state that will bring high standards of service and commitment to the program.  Nominations will come from top business and community leaders across the state, existing community leadership programs, other state leaders, self-nominations and eventually alumni nominations.  Approximately 30 leaders will be selected each May to begin, in August, a ten month, five session course of study that will allow them to visit each region of the state, engage in analytical conversations of importance to critical state issues, learn from state and national experts on those issues and experience the cultural diversity of the region.
