This team member will play a critical role in advancing the organization’s work across the state. This position requires an independent and creative thinker who is able to work in close and productive collaboration with Leadership Tennessee staff and will be responsible for supporting all Leadership Tennessee programs.

A few key details about the Community Engagement Manager role:

  • This is a full-time position.

  • Based in Nashville, TN.

  • Requires travel across Tennessee over the course of approximately ten weekends throughout the year.

  • We host events throughout the year that require program assistance in the evenings two to three days each month.


COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

INTRODUCTION

Leadership Tennessee, the only statewide leadership education program in Tennessee, cultivates a network of business, nonprofit, education and government leaders who are committed to addressing the state’s challenges and opportunities around issues of state importance.

Citizens with demonstrated community and professional leadership from every region of the state bring their diverse backgrounds and experiences to an in-depth exploration of the complex issues facing Tennessee, with a focus on how leaders can collaborate effectively to address those issues.

Leadership Tennessee is an initiative of the College of Leadership and Public Service at Lipscomb University.

As a program, Leadership Tennessee will provide:

  • Neutral, non-partisan and Issue-specific education for demonstrated leaders

POSITION OVERVIEW

Leadership Tennessee’s Community Engagement Manager will play a critical role in advancing the organization’s work across the state. This position requires an independent and creative thinker who is able to work in close and productive collaboration with Leadership Tennessee staff and will be responsible for supporting all Leadership Tennessee programs.

The Community Engagement Manager will report to Leadership Tennessee’s Executive Director and work closely with the Director of Community Engagement.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERAL

  • Coordinate daily operations of Leadership Tennessee office.

  • Coordinate and maintain Leadership Tennessee participant, alumni and vendor files, invoices and payments.

  • Assist Executive Director and Director of Community Engagement in maintaining a robust network of community leaders and partners.

  • Assist Executive Director and Director of Community Engagement in maintaining financial records for organization budget and grant reports.

  • Provide special event assistance for all programs as needed in the evenings and on weekends.

  • Maintain all digital spaces for Member interaction:

    • www.leadershiptennessee.org

    • Marketplace for all electronic payments to Leadership Tennessee (program fees, donations, annual and special giving, special programs)

    • Signature Program app for current class.

  • Maintain online platforms for managing all records, payments, and interactions with all Leadership Tennessee constituents in an online CRM.

  • Support social media outreach for all programs on various platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

  • Coordinate purchasing and ordering for all LT merchandise for all programs (program related collateral).

  • Work closely with Executive Director, Director of Community Engagement and contracted communications and graphic design professionals in the creation of annual publications and mailings.

  • Work closely with Executive Director and Director of Community Engagement for the execution of fundraising and membership campaigns.

LEADERSHIP TENNESSEE NEXT

  • Lead coordination of Leadership Tennessee NEXT nominations, applications, and selection of annual Leadership Tennessee NEXT class.

  • Lead logistical support for each session location, including lodging, transportation, catering, venues, etc.

  • Design and implement curriculum for three Leadership Tennessee NEXT sessions across the state.

  • Compile and lead Leadership Tennessee NEXT Advisory Board.

  • With Executive Director and Director of Community Engagement, develop and implement program-specific funding plans.

SIGNATURE PROGRAM

  • Support the development and maintenance of relationships with current and potential participants and program partners.

  • Maintain all contact related records for Signature Program members.

  • Assist Executive Director in nomination, application, and selection process.

  • Work closely with Leadership Tennessee staff and partners in communities across the state to plan and implement programs and events, including but not limited to negotiating speakers, making lodging and meeting space reservations for staff and groups, selecting menus and making travel arrangements for all Leadership Tennessee programs.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM

  • Assist with planning and design of custom public engagement strategies for public engagement conversations and projects as needed.

  • Assist with facilitation services for community engagement events as needed.

  • Assist contracted facilitators as necessary.

  • Assist with maintenance of physical and online spaces for feedback, surveys, and outcomes metrics.

  • Work closely LT staff and partners in communities across the state to plan and implement programs and events, including but not limited to negotiating speakers, making lodging and meeting space reservations for staff and groups, selecting menus and making travel arrangements for all Leadership Tennessee programs.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates must be capable of managing multiple tasks and people simultaneously in a fast-paced environment where collaboration, optimism, courage, innovation and excellence are highly valued. Superb writing skills, outstanding analytical skills and excellent communication skills are necessary.

  • Candidates should be flexible and team-oriented, have strong interpersonal skills and have proficient-to-advanced skills with Google Drive and Mac OS. Candidates must be comfortable with many forms of social media, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and have website maintenance experience.

  • Candidates should have experience in organizing, planning and executing large events.

  • Candidates must be available for occasional travel in support and execution of all Leadership Tennessee programs.

  • A bachelor’s degree is required and master’s degree is preferred.

COMPENSATION

Compensation will be competitive based on the candidate’s previous experience and credentials.
